This may have already hit AB, but didn'e see any irate drinkers, so, the question is: if the 40p per unit of spirit comes into force, how much difference will it make to a 13 pc alcahol wine? ASDA do merlot for £5. is it going to make it much more expensive than the increase of tinned tomatoes? they were 13p per tin ( asda own brand) now 37 per tin. I still buy them.

Just having a 13.5% bottle and it's 10.1 units.
It won't make a difference unless you drink cheap cider and special brew.
That's me bu99ered then
You could always dilute your expensive Asda puréed tinned tomatoes with the cheap Vodka that they sell......touch of grapefruit juice, black pepper and Tabasco, slice of lemon or lime, and you have a Bloody Mary to drown your alcoholic price increase woes.

Well, Aldi will have to sell their £2.99 wine range at nearer the £4 mark - about 30% more.
I don't shop there, so it won't make a difference :-)
I knew this would happen. So some years ago I decided to only have one drink a day. At present I am up to the 21st october 2018. So I have saved £££££'s
