How to enlarge a photo on compputer?

I have a couple of full length photos and I would like to enlarge the face bit for my FBook, but absolutely no idea how to do it. Everytime I enlarge it on Picassa, then save it, be becomes the original size, I just want the head and shoulders. Many thanks

First make a copy of the original and work on that.
Using some for of selection tool you need to crop the image to leave the bit you want.
Save that as another file.
You should then be able to resize this new image

It returns to the original size where ? On your drive/PC ? On Fbook ?

Maybe the site is changingthe photo size to fit. Or maybe whatever you use to view it is enlarging it on the screen to optimum size to look at ?

Thank you for that but I can't seem to use it, I manage to enlagre the face bit but when I save it it comes up the original size.

Sounds like you are just zooming in on the picture and not enlarging it.

I guess so, but I click the edit and tools buttons but nothing happens, I'll play around and see what I can do! Thanks anyway all of you.

Good afternoon Ab Editor, thank you for that, will mess about, hopefully, I can sort it!

Open the image into Paint.
1. Click onto Tools & select top left rectangle.
2.Take cursor to image & hilite what you want.
3.Right click mouse to copy.
4.Go to File & Open new page
5.Ctrl V to paste.
6.Save with new file name

Tamborine, in Paint , there are no tools.,, I get, file, edit, view, image, colours and help, can't seem to do it any all, I try changing the size of the pixels but nothing happens!

Hang on think I've just found it, but have cut lumps out of the photo so will try again

Just done all that tamborine, but the head and shoulders that I want is still the same size, just without the body now! I give up.

Enlarge the page (white space) and resize/pull image to fit.

Open piccie on Ms Photo Editor. Top ribbon menu enlarge to 800? Choose Select (dotted square on ribbon menu) & place cursor on selected area; Ctrl C (copy) & paste to new page.

Quality maybe lost depending on pixels of original image.
