For a few months now I have been suffering from attacks of trapped wind(mainly due to being inactive and sitting on a call-centre for 7 hours a day at work). It seems to travel up to my collarbones (mainly left collarbone) and is really painful by the end of some days. I have tried drinking peppermint tea, which helps a bit, any other suggestions?

No idea. Didn't think "trapped wind" was an entity.
Many, but none that are suitable for family viewing.
When I get trapped wind I get pain in my shoulder.
Are you sitting down for 7 hours at a time?
It's probably repetitive strain, you probably sit in the same position all day. I got this when I was hunched over a desk doing stupid checking jobs, it happened to a lot of staff so we had to have new desks and all sorts of other instruments to help our posture whilst working.
Not desks, chairs.

7 hours with a 30 minute lunch in between. I don't think its muscular, because as soon as the wind has passed the pain goes.
Well, without knowing much about your symptom, just about your occupation i would have thought that acid reflux or GERD may well be high up in the list of probable diagnosis and that an antacid (Gaviscon) may well relieve your symptoms.

Google GERD and get back to us for more information.
try something like Rennie's or similar
Available easily from many supermarkets and pharmacy
And BTW, I would also consider taking short breaks in between starting work and lunch and after lunch and home time
Toilet breaks work well :)

I have always suffered from indigestion/acid from my teenage years (am now 42), I am not overweight at all, but just seem to be getting more build up of wind as the food seems to sit there as I am sitting all day (I dont get it when I am off work). I will give Gaviscon a try, thanks all.
I thought you'd only just started suffering
What has your GP prescribed for you before?
If peppermint tea is helping try adding fennel teabags to the mix

Get up and stretch at least every 30 mins
Try removing anything from your diet that causes wind.

In my experience this would include wholemeal wheat, bran, oats, onions, beans, sprouts etc.

Do you drink fizzy drinks?
