The only issue I can see is if you want to use a mobile dongle for internet then you'd really need to be looking at a windows based machine, but if you're OK just using WiFi then one of the linux based ones would do.
Coo - that's cheap - might get one for when I'm away on the bike - I worry a bit about how the hard-drive in my netbook copes with the vibration and general clattering about (OK so far but ...)
It's something I'd not worry about too much. The purpose is purely for being able to throw it into a pack for cycling when abroad - in reality it's just for data entry and having it sync with a dropbox folder whenever I am within reach of a wifi for "real" work at a later date.
