I put my bike battery on trickle charge at the weekend and this evening could hear the battery bubbling.

Is this normal?

Thanks

If the bubbling is bad it could be that the voltage regulator in the charger is faulty.
Most lead/acid batteries bubble to some extent the break down of water into hydrogen and oxygen is part of the charging process

Which apparently is suitable for bikes!
Not sure about this, but don't bikes have 6volt batteries? The output of this charger is 12volt.
...apparently, some are 6v and some are 12v...so, I've learnt something!
Hi FF,

Have you charged your bike before with this charger with no problems? if so the charger must be duff.

If not then it is to powerful for the smaller bike battery, I have been using this one on my bike battery for years now with no problems.....

Thanks for the info Toureman.

I've used this particular charger for a couple of years now, but it was a cheap one so will buy an upgrade to be on the safe side.
beware -the gas coming of the battery could be combustible.
