I can't believe that the school or anyone else would say that missing school would/should take precedence over seeing their father. They have not committed a crime and should not be penalised for his actions. There must be a family support group (probably on-line) which have the experince to support you.
Okay, it may not be the best place to be going to but he is their dad and they are his children. If you think that your children would be better for going (and you are the expert on your children -not anyone else) then do what's right for them.
How does the school expect them to want to learn if they are not having contact with him?
