If this poem wasn't so controversial, it wouldn't see the light of day outside of vanity publishing. The talentless often covet controversy because they are unable to earn respect artistically. However, I defend the right to write and publish such pap, but I do wonder whether the writer would risk such a poem about figures from less tolerant belief systems.
I would also point out my 9 year old daughter surfs this site and I can think of better things for her to view.
I would however like to know what WUASTC means.
You said nothing in your post about engaging in debate on the subject matter of the poem.
People can write what they like but I don't think it's the sort of thing I would like a child to come across whilst browsing this site. If you had worded the post differently you may have had a better reaction but it seems it is offensive to some because it has been reported and removed.
ok a couple of clarifications- im not the first or last person to engage debate in these forums- there are countless debate questions on answerbank - a regimented pedanticness isnt my particular fetish.Yes there was a faux pas on my part as this is generally a family site and i let the "openess" of the net get the better of me.
ironically could it also be said the poem could be offensive to gays as it associates them with blasphemy and necrophillia?
WUASTC =wake up and smell the coffee! :)
