Tree to grow in a large tub

I want to find a slow growing tree to put in a large tub, I would like something that flowers, not sure what to look at!......it can't be prickly or thorny!.....

Be careful what you wish for. I have a beautiful magnolia tree in the garden, but spent weeks in the autumn collecting up dead leaves, and just spent over an hour yesterday sweeping up blossom!

Oh grasscarp was think of a Magnolia, Susan variety took my eye, I have no luck with Azalias brinjal,they just don't do well for me, but thanks anyway! maybe a peony would be an idea, thanks slack! hadn't considered that!..... still leaning towards the Magnolia though!.......

I've got a cherry tree in a tub. Every year I think I've finally managed to kill it and then suddenly (notice it this week) it's sprouting green stuff again. Odd.

thanks everyone, some great suggestions there, think I may go with a Cherry Tree, that was my first choice, but wasn't sure that it would survive in a tub, will give it a try!...........

When it's dry welsh, make sure you water it until the water comes out of the bottom of the tub. We nearly managed to kill ours last year because we weren't giving it enough water at any one time. We've managed to save it and it's looking good this year. Can't wait to get some cherries on it.

Seriously ? Anything you like. The tub will have a dwarfing effect. I have a liquidambar and a parrotica that have been tub grown for about 20 years. Water well and trim to shape if needed..oh and I've got a copper beech as well. They aren't bonsai or anything fancy, I just keep them in ordinary tubs in John nines number 3 with water gel crystals

I've got 2 Lilacs, 2 Wisterias a Fig tree a Peach tree (normal size) and an apple tree - all growing in pots...
