Title says it all really.
A friend of mine needs a DNA test for her son (approx 2 months old), as there are doubts as to who the father is (that's a different story - so don't even ask).
She's not entitled to any help towards the cost, so does anyone know of any places (on-line or wherever) that are accurate, cheap and trustworthy ???
TIA :)

Your friend's GP should surely be able to advice?
I heard that there were 2 types of them and the more expensive one was £400. That is the one that would stand up in court if you want the help of the Child Support Agency.
why not get the supposed fathers to pay?
or go on JK
My daughters delightful ex said he wasn't the father to their child. He finished with my daughter when she was 12 weeks pregnant. She had to go onto benefits and the CSA got involved, told him he had to do a DNA if he wasn't the father she had to pay if he was he had to pay. It was arranged through our GP, yep he had to pay £200 for the results, made not difference to him, still never paid and no contact. Daughter never wanted him to after that, she started working and has never asked for payment. His loss, he had lost out on a wonderful little girl. Try the CSA and see if they can help.
if she is on benefits, the social security will arrange them for free, when they are trying to persuade the 'father' to contribute to upkeep.

you have to pay for photos and turn up where they say.
My son in law paid for two private DNA tests, (he couldn't believe the results from the first which showed he wasn't the father), cost him about £180 each, he is having to undergo another one for the courts and the others aren't admissible. Even though he is not the father, he is still fighting for custody of the child as he believed he was his father for three years, as we all did, except my daughter who hadn't said anything until last November.
My local chemist has a sign in the window.. They now offer maternity testing, paternity testing and sibling testing.
How many potential fathers are there ? they will all have to agree to be tested .
I would tell her just to give the names of all the candidates to the social services when they ask the name of the father for the maintainance claim then let them sort it out.
all supposed fathers should have a DNA test
