Both the little Scorpions will be back for Easter (+ boy/girlfriends) so I am going o do a roast. I love lamb but it is ususally far too expensive however both leg & shoulder of lamb are £5.00 kg in Tesco at the moment so I might be able to afford it.

Which would make the better roast? also what sort of weight would I want for 6 people

Many thanks

I bought a fresh leg from Aldi at the weekend gone, it was delicious. It cost £4.99 per kilo, so I bought one which was £13 in price. Stabbed it about 50 times and pushed in a rosemary/garlic/butter seasoning & cooked it for about almost 4 hours - it was to die for.

Shoulder tends to have less meat and more fat and Leg has more meat but neither are really meaty - I personally would go for the leg of lamb.
I find shoulder easier to carve..less waste...but....Aldi have really good buy with frozen legs....if you have the time to defrost...also the dog over the road likes it when I have leg....

I made if for 7 people, but there was enough left over for sandwiches on Sun night then we had the rest for tea for 2 people last night - it was still delish, little bit of fat in places - but plenty of meat on it.

Thanks for your answers, I'll get the leg then
I bought a leg of lamb on offer from Asda for Easter Sunday (like you i love lamb but its usualy so expensive) i usually roast slowly and buy as big a piece as i can afford and use leftovers for sandwiches etc better to have too much than not enough. Anyway now find that my offspring (bless them) have all got other plans so will just be me and hubby for most of the weekend when we are not working, so our roast lamb meal is on hold till another weekend, as its just not worth cooking such a big piece for just two of us. I was so looking forward to it aswell.....
Enjoy your meal with your family
