Has anyone done this? I'm beginning to think the grid is wrong, as some answers I'm fairly sure of don't fit. I hope someone can confirm my thoughts, so I can give up! Thanks.

I think you are right-I gave up yesterday! 15 across should be STATIC LINES but the grid has 12 spaces. Also 4down is PASTEURELLAS and the grid has only 5!

Phew! Thanks amtaff, glad it's not just me going mad! I shall now bin the puzzle. Shame though, as I always enjoy Beelzebub.

I agree with you. We think that 11 down is Supracrustal (anagram of a surplus cart0. However this is 12 letters long and the grid required 2 words with a total length of 11 letters. On the other hand, 1ac, 20ac, 8d and 23d do appear to fit the grid!

Maybe Beelzebub could help us!

In the mean time we have also put the puzzle to one side after a couple of very frustrating hours trying to get some progress.

It's very puzzling, clog2. Some clues fit and others don't! Strange indeed.

I agree with all comments - I thought I was off to a good start with 1ac! Then wasted time. Presumably no competition this week. I wonder if there is any chance of an explanation.

All very frustrating! I hope something will be said next week.
It was all the more frustrating, as some clues did fit...........Can't work out if they printed the wrong grid, or the wrong clues or a mixture of both.

The entry date was also off. 6th April, when lately the date has given more time.

It appears that the grid is fine, therefore, there is some April Foolery afoot!
