Sweet and sour

On my way back from York this afternoon, I stopped at Hartshead Services on the M62. I went to look at the memorial to those who lost their lives in the coach bomb in Feb. 1974. One of those was a good friend of my wife, Fusilier Stephen Whalley. I didn't know him, but my wife had known him since childhood. Really sad but a nice memorial tablet there. I was going to buy something to eat, but when I went inside I was reminded of that old joke about the guy who was buying a coffee, pack of sandwiches and a packet of crisps. He said to the girl he was sorry but he only had a £20 note. She said it's ok, you can put the crisps back. The price of a chicken pie was £7.50. It didn't look anything special. People must pay those prices or they wouldn't be asking them would they? Would you pay that much for a pie? Me neither.

For anyone out there to do a journey via any Motorway in the UK & expect the Motorway prices to be reasonable, think twice If you are o a coach the Driver gets his / her meal free of charge whilst you pick up the expensive snack, take some advise from an Ex HGV Driver that DID NOT USE the Services for that reason " THE COST" Including the fuel, just remember It's YOU that initially pays for the cost of transporting the Food / Fuel to these places, use your head & carry your own Food / drinks, & make sure you have the fuel to complete the journey.
