The Mrs goes to a women only swimming session @ the local baths. There was a notice outside the office saying there was a session for Asian women only swimming.....I thought we were supposed to be an integrated country...

Nothing wrong in my mind of encouraging ANY religion not to inter marry. Although love can conquer all I do think it's alot easier If different religions stick together for marriage etc. causes less probs raising kids etc. that's NOT to say different religions shouldn't mingle in society/friends/work etc just that the marriage commitment is easier if u have a common background ,

Better than the times when the boys' parents and family were universally against marrying out.That rabbis think that it's now necessary to tour universities to say the same as they did is quite a promising sign. If boys of 18 to 22 or so haven't accepted this by now, there's not much chance that a visiting rabbi will make much difference.

That is all well and good seadogg, but remember that in swimming pools, the water is always cold.
That's why not many women swim underwater ;-)

carrust , you are so young! Don't you remember the days when there were "Ladies Only" compartments on trains? We had examples of segregation like that before. Women were accommodated in that way. The Asian,Muslim women prefer, out of modesty or religious belief, not to be seen by men when swimming. Other British people no longer need separate bathing areas (or bathing machines!), or times.

Misread. ^ Carrust's example was not a question of sex separation. The Asian women must feel that being surrounded by 'immodestly' attired women in bikinis etc is embarrassing.There's really no harm in accommodating that.

There was a fashion for circumcision years ago. Prince Charles, I think, was circumcised (or was it tonsils out? Same difference; people then did not think either foreskin or tonsils were necessary) Anyway, there were boys in my class who had been circumcised and their religion, C of E, did not require it.

No Percy the majority of boys thank goodness are not circumcised. My wife was Jewish and I bl00dy well wasn't either ;-)

We are far from intergration they dont want it only our money life style
