I love my mate dearly but she is expecting me to cut her graded unit word count in half!!! It's fecking impossible :| I can't wait for college to finish and i'm not even there! :(

I think she knows herself that it's going to be impossible. I told her before I started that she would be better starting over and rewriting it but she ended up close to tears.

And that is with a huge whack off it already! The final word count is 2200 words and at first she was sitting at 4800!! It's about 4150 atm :| I honestly don't know how she manages it!

Has she written long, convoluted sentences which need to be reworded, or has she put in far too much information? If it's the latter, it should be easier to then pare it.

There's an editing tool on Word (but don't ask me how to find it, I can't remember) where she can just put in the word count she needs, and the computer will do it for her.

Why is she asking you to do it? Essays are supposed to be the student's own work!

If it was a short essay then maybe, but over 4000 words?? And what if you cut all the words and she doesnt like what you have done?
