Alright, I know he's getting on, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was so nice to have a decent chat show, without the host passing inane remarks and letting his guests shine through. What do others think?

Yes, very good. I didn't realise Robert Lindsay was so talented. And how much different did Katherine Kelly look? Almost pretty!

I agree Tizzi, I watched this and enjoyed it . Even though Des is getting on his charm and affability shine through. His guests were good too. A good show all round.

Made a nice change for Sunday evening entertainment. But I see that ITV have done nothing special for Bank Holiday Monday evening. Usual Corris and Emmerdale claptrap.

Thanks for all your comments and spotty - I didn't know Robert Lyndsay was so talented either. I remember him in Get Some In and he was so funny. I have seen Des live a few times back in the day and he doesn't seem to have changed at all.

Have always liked Des O'Connor even his singing!
There were times when he did look a bit doddery, hands shaking a bit but he's still lovely.

We enjoyed it too, as others have said, so nice to know that there would be no smutty "jokes" just good all-round entertainment.

I agree, I really enjoyed the show, and aparantly we are not alone, it was the most popular show on ITV that day, and beat "Titanic" that had been pitched against it in the ratings. Des is a pure pro, and an inspiration to "silver surfers" everywhere, 80 years old his children in the audience proud as punch and why not I would be.
