Recently there was a commons inquiry into the issue of privacy and phone hacking at which lots of famous people gave evidence, including Richard Murdoch. Now, the government is planning to introduce legislation that will allow them to read all emails, phone calls and text messages. What was the point of the inquiry then?

there wasn't, and if they bring in this botox about reading everyone's e mails, texts then i reckon we should all come out onto the streets in a mass demonstration and tell them where they can shove it. It seems privacy is only for those that can afford it. We have worse security issues than places like china and that is not right at all.
clarion....that was then.....this is now.

PUBLIC OUTRAGE......Gordon Brown wanted an inquiry in 2009......".not bl00dy likely" said Gus O'Donnell...the election is much too close for such a sensitive subject to be entered upon.

2yrs later....Labour was ousted and Cameron set up the inquiry....remember that is what everybody wanted. including us ABers.

Since then, time has moved on, but the inquiry hasn't.........so the Coalition is saying......legislation is forthcoming.

Everybody is happy but none more so than the lawyers who are coining it in.
"then i reckon we should all come out onto the streets in a mass demonstration and tell them where they can shove it."

Or just send a text message/email to the same effect.
