Anyone See The Xmas Blankety Blank?
Film, Media & TV1 min ago
Last night I nearly set fire to my kitchen by carelessly leaving a tea towel on the ceramic hob which I had just turned off, but was still hot (ie- didn't look hot). It started to smoke just as I walkedaway to the toilet. If I hadn't caught a glance of the smoke the kitchen would have set on fire.
So! I need some kind of fire blanket/extinguisher suitable for elec. cookers /toasters/washing machines... Any advice on what I should get and what price they are?

I've got a fire blanket on my kitchen wall, which thankfully since I've had it, have never needed to use. I bought it direct from Chubb after they did a fire safety demonstration at work a few years back. I think it was under a tenner. I would think the blanket may be better than an extinguisher for the kitchen. If I remember correctly there are different types of extinguisher depending on the fire ie. electrical, paper etc. Have you got a smoke alarm? If not I suggest you get one in the meantime.

for kitchen fires you want a dry powder or co2 extinguisher, not afff or water. A fire blanket is good for chip pan fires, not having a chip pan is better!!
