Plant for cat burial plot

We had our eldest cat put down yesterday. She was 17 so had a pretty long life. She is now buried in our garden and we would like to put a plant there but don't know which one. Any ideas? TIA

Lovely idea, but all the cats in the neighbourhood will come and roll in it. I'd plant a rose.

We planted a hydrangea when we buried our beloved pet in our garden

My dogs all become roses and the most suitable and easiest to look after is the Peace Rose.

You can't just plant any old thing, you have to consider the soil type, whether the plot is sunny or shady, how much space there is, how high it can grow, whether you want an evergreen and or flowering plant, scented? and it will have to be frost hardy. Give the above information in the garden section and you will get very good advice.

So sad to hear about your cat. She certainly did live a long life, and it's obvious that she was much loved. Your other cat must feel a bit bewildered. Some lovely suggestions for plants here. Another could be Rosemary for remembrance.

We'll all suggest different things, I've just done this last weekend (ashes) and chose a honeysuckle.

My dog used to rub against our herb garden and she always came in smelling of rosemary. So when she died we planted a rosemary bush and her ashes were scattered underneath it.

You need a perennial so that it is always there and you will know exactly where she is buried. Roses are fairly easy to grow and only need a small amount of care but I think sibtons hydrangea is a great idea.

We planted a hebe with white flowers for our cat as she had white fur. Still miss her and it's been 12 years :-(

One of my cats died 17yrs ago aged 18.....she is buried in the garden under a
tree so quite shady. Cos mum and dad loved her too they bought her a headstone. so I have a marked grave, with her details on, and I put tubs on it,
different flowers in summer and at christmas a tiny christmas tree.

sorry to hear your sad news. We too had to have our beloved cat put to sleep about 2 years ago now. He was 18 and had a good life. We still have his ashes in a lovely box in the front lounge and I talk to him every day. We also planted a lovely bush in the garden with a small cross with his name and life dates on. I cant remember what it was called ( mimosa ) I think. Its a lovely idea as they do become part of your family. ♥
