Compact Flash card Type I and Type II??

Can anyone explain the difference between the above. I want to buy one that will be compatible with two different cameras and the spec. on one camera states Type II and the other camera states Type I. Many thanks.

Type I cards are 3.3mm thick, while Type II are 5.0mm thick. Both are 43mm in width and 36 mm in height. A Type I card will fit into a Type II slot or adapter, while the converse is naturally not the case.
...........so the thing to do is check the slots and you will maybe find that your "Type II" camera has a wider slot and will take both cards, whilst the other camera will not accept type II...now you know which to buy then eh?....commoner
