Gardening with a hosepipe ban.
Have you got any suggestions for plants/flowers which will do well without too much water. I have an east/south facing garden and would like some suggestions for filling my borders.

You don't want hollow stemmed plants like busy lizzies which need loads of water. Things like primulas at low level can live with limited water, as long as they get some.
Google Beth Chatto .... She is renowned for her East Anglian dried garden plantings ... however , really, if you can get horse manure and dig it in well, you will over time build up a moisture retentive undersoil and provided you water accurately (watering can) for a week or so until plants get away ,they will look after themselves. Soils under tree canopy and close to hedges is a different matter though!!
