I was just wondering if there is likely to be a jail sentence if you get charged with.. common assualt, assualt by beating and viloent disorder. the person does NOT have any pervious convitionsor or record.

Violent Disorder is a serious offence under the Public Order Act (the second most serious second only to the rarely used Riot)and is almost always tried and sentenced in the Crown Court. It carries a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment and a custodial sentence is almost inevitable.

So does that mean there is a very high change of a jail sentence?

How do you translate "almost inevitable"? I understand that to mean "very likely", "a good chance" or "a strong likelihood".

As I said earlier, although it can be dealt with at the Magistrates’ Court, the offence is usually dealt with at the Crown Court because it is considered that magistrates’ sentencing powers (six months custody) are insufficient. You have not said whether this matter is being dealt with at the Crown Court, but if it is a custodial sentence is highly likely. The lack of previous convictions MAY convince the judge that a suspended sentence may be appropriate but that depends of other factors, such as the seriousness of the particular offence.
