When I type something into the Google search box, I always use a capital letter where appropriate.

This is despite Google not caring about such things.

I just cannot type a name starting with a lower case letter.

I even send texts with capital letters and punctuation - can't stand text speak.

No, you're not alone Hopkirk. I'm the same as you regarding capital letters.

Also, I don't like using text speak on my mobile.

It's as if I am worried that the English teacher is watching over my shoulder, and will go mad if he sees me typing badly. (I am 52 though)

Ooh dear, hands up!
I've always been very lazy on here, typing using all lower case with the lack of apostrophes.. tut tut..
But, I'm now doing my bestest to do it right!.. when I remember!
However, with anything else, I always write in full and am very particular with presentation and punctuation, etc..

That's funny...I am the same way! I also get annoyed by the wrong usage of apostrophes. And people saying "These ones" and "Those ones".

My son and I are the same, our texts to each other are like letters, all written correctly.

I type as properly as I can, except that I usually leave the first letter of a post on AB lower case, I forget why. But for search engines where it doesn't matter, I don't bother. (Because I am forever bumping the caps lock key when I just wanted the shift key, and ending up with EVERYTHING IN CAPS LOOKING UGLY).

I try to live with the guilt.

Strangely enough, 75% of your replies have come from users with a lowercase user name. Depends on the search.
