Shrinking food.

Did someone ask the other week about supermarket products appearing smaller?
I've tried a search but came up with nothing- anyhoo, thought this might interest them if they're still around.

Not sure about anyone else, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to stick to my admittedly stingy shopping budget each month, and this could help explain why!

Supermarket products smaller? Surprised you couldn't find anything about it on the web, Boo. Try Google for 'product shrinkage'! Previously, in our local pound shop, you could get a pack of 24 Oxo cubes for £1. Now, while they're still selling Oxo cubes for £1, they're in packs of 18 cubes - a pack quantity I've never seen in my life before now.
Although I agree shopping is getting more expensive I don't think shrinking the size is a bad thing. Generally people eat too much and obesity is becoming a major issue in this country. Perhaps it's best if we all get used to smaller portions.
Got to agree with the posts about Aldi and Lidl. At one time I would never have set foot in either but friends and family have changed my mind. I love Aldi's Thai Salmon fishcakes - £1.99 for 2 and they're fab!! Lidl's Angus Sirloin steaks are also brilliant value for money.

'Plenty' kitchen paper towels (previously called 'Bounty') came on the market with 75 sheets to a roll, on average. Then they dropped in number to 70, 65, 56, and now they're 50. Wife looked at her favourite Kleenex tissues today. They used to be 100 to the box, then 90, 80, and now 70. And yet the price of these shrinking products keeps rising all the time. Pay more, get less.
