In England the law has changed. The victim no longer has to report the abuse. ANYONE ie. a friend, neighbour or family member can make the complaint to the police and press charges. A very recent change in the law. If you know someone this might benefit please pass this information on

What happens if the victim won't support the person who reported it in the first place? Will the police still be able to press charges?

It's a good change. I saw this was the case in parts of America and it works. The reason is the wife reports her husband for beating her. Then he says he's sorry and she drops the case but once the crime is reported you cannot go back on it. I hope that is the case here. I never realised the law came in.
