Your daughter has a moderate degree of astigmatism which means that her eyes have to focus to see in the distance and look at close objects too.The key things to discuss with your optician are if your daughters vision is normal for her age, both eyes are the same level of vision and that they are working together properly with good binocular vision. Your daughters eyes are still developing to adult standards and it is important that they are given every chance to reach the best possible level they can. She is at an important age with reading and schooling and I presume this is why she was taken for her eye examination.
There should be no reason to refer your daughter just because of the prescription so I feel clarification of the reason for the referral should be sought.
Was she given spectacles to use in the meantime while you wait for further opinion?
Would you feel happier seeking a second optometrist opinion from the same practice or even another?
