TV interference
Does anyone know how to stop the continued reappearance of an icon on my Toshiba TV inviting me to instal a systems upgrade? Clicking OK merely produces a "searching" icon which fails to find the upgrade referred to. I thought it was illegal to interfere with the transmission of TV programmes.

You may have seen this on older analogue TVs as an occasional black band at the top of the screen with white dots running through it. The data includes program type, timing information, etc. If new software version information is received in this way, and it doesn't match that stored in your TV, the TV will show an upgrade recommendation. Usually, it's for your benefit as a viewer.
