Suddenly to day i have had this issue. I have an HPLaserJet P1606dn and XP. I have googled this issue and it appears that quite a few folk have the same problem. there are various so called fixes mentioned but I have tried a few with no luck at all. I have even downloaded the up to date driver from the HP web site and that makes no difference.

Has anyone managed a permanent fix for this? If so what is it pleae.

Thanks you.

Has anything been changed to the Print server on your PC? If not, and only if you're competent to carry this out then, follow this advice

I suspect that the Print spooler service has become corrupt, and needs to be reinstalled, and since this is part of the XP OS, then updating the print drivers has no effect - as you've seen.

Nibbles thanks for that. I have seen that and written down the details. But strangely when I turned on the PC and printer this morning the problem seems to have disappeared. So I will now print that out and save it for future.
