What's the best marriage proposal you've ever had or asked?
Was it romantic, down to earth, a bit of both or just plain unexpected

He went into hospital with seizures (he had epilepsy, although he didn't know it at the time) and the doctors at first did not give a hopeful prognosis. We were both very scared. Once he left hospital, after they decided he was well enough to leave (although not diagnosed) he mentioned to me that it had crossed his mind to ask me to marry him. I kinda brushed it off and didn't think much of it. But a month or so later he went back into hospital for the same reason, and then he asked me to marry him. But I told him he had to ask my father.
So, about a month later again, we all went out for a special meal, and he took my dad to the bar and asked for my hand, which my dad said yes (I think! Albeit too young).
He then presented me with a ring, and was forced by 3 businessmen in the restaurant to get down on one knee and 'do it properly!' LOL

my (now) husband said 'you don't want to get married anyway' and i said 'i might' and he said 'well do you?' and i said 'yes' and we didn't speak another word on that sunject that evening!
the actual 'engagement ring buying' and putting on the finger *was* romantic though, as was the very intimate wedding do!

Going past Prestons in Bolton, went in for a look round.
Saw a lovely diamond solitaire, and asked Mrs V if she fancied it.
She asked what finger she would wear it on, and I said what do you think?
I did threaten to go down on the proverbial knee, but she wouldn't let me.
Very spur of the moment, but one of my best such.

Mr mac had built himself up to it and was taking me out for my birthday lunch where he was determined to do the deed. An old man at the table next to us collapsed though, and was lying on the floor with a paramedic giving him oxygen when mr m popped the question :) (the guy was ok - he'd just had a wee turn)
I don't recall him ever actually asking me to get married! We had gone out
shopping to find me a birthday present, but I'd no idea what I'd like so we sat on some benches on top of the Princes Mall in Edinburgh while I pondered, and he said that there was something he'd thought of, but if he suggested it I might not talk to him again - so he eventually suggested we got engaged! I was in shock, certainly didn't expect that, we'd only been a "couple" for about 3 weeks, though we'd been friends for years. We celebrated our 25th anniversary last week so at some point I must have been asked

Only been engaged once and am very much happy to be too my current man. I stayed over night at my mums to help them move house as it was on her 60th birthday, and he came to pick me up the following evening. Went home and was just getting cuddled up in bed when he went down (keep reading before you think I am rude!) on one knee at the end of the bed and asked me! Might not seem that romantic to some but was very much us!
