Ever been stuck in a lift?
33 Answers
I almost was today. I was in Harrods and the lift wouldn't go down to the lowest level. My husband pushed the buttons and nothing was happening, the doors wouldn't open. I took my coat and cardigan off immediately and was panicking big time! We prob weren't stuck in there for long (half a minute maybe), but it got me thinking about people who do get stuck and if you have, how did you cope?
Thank god the door opened as I really think I would have had a panic attack. If we had got stuck, I would have demanded some free goods from there lol.

If we'd been stuck in that shaft we'd have been ready to commit murder by the time we got out
Once, with a woman who started hyperventilating and an employee of the place who insisted on using the alarm and speaker to get help, but who couldn't fathom the written instructions as she didn't have her reading glasses with her, but wouldn't let anyone else help her.
After 10 minutes I'd had well enough and gave the doors a roundhouse kick, which cured the problem. I have no idea why.

when I was a little girl I got stuck in Selfridges lift with my Grandma who was a very very supersticious lady, lift was packed and she kept shouting out "blame me I am the jonah" until a man told her to shut up ! in those days they had a lift boy in the lift "going up, going up next floor ladies underwear" [anyone remember lift boys ?] an he organised sing song whilst we waited to be rescued and we all had to clamber out as the lift was slightly below the floor.
another lift story ---- my pal got stuck in the lift in the tower block whe she lived, she reached her floor but the doors would not open, she rang the alarm bell and started banging on the lift door, a neighbour came out peered through the little gass window and said "dont go away I shall get help" where on earth did he think she could go ????????? what a stupid thing to say but we did laugh after the event.
I used to be a sales rep and whenever my sales manager came out with me he refused to go in any lifts.
One of our customers was on the 11th floor of a building. By the time we'd walked up all those floors I was too knackered to talk.
Oh well. Life has it's ups and downs. (Well someone had to say it).
