// The BNP candidate for Thursday's mayoral elections in Liverpool has been arrested following allegations of electoral fraud. Police said they had to force their way into Mike Whitby's north Wales home on Monday after he refused to co-operate.

Police are investigating claims that he faked signatures and misled residents into signing his nomination papers, following an investigation by the Liverpool Echo. The newspaper interviewed several residents in the Wavertree area of the city who said Whitby had not mentioned the fact that he was standing for the BNP. //

Meanwhile...

// THE British National Party candidate for Liverpool mayor Mike Whitby is only eligible to stand in the election because he rents a redundant pigeon shed in the city. But the ECHO has learned the facility is actually a unit where the local racing pigeon club used to meet. Deputy council leader Cllr Paul Brant said the ECHO’s investigations had brought the “murky practices” of the BNP home to roost. //

What odds are the bookies giving?
If you remove the obviously emotive undercurrent.

Why does he need to do it? Not exactly small is it Liverpool, like every other major city in the country Liverpool must have enough Nazis to sign up.
There probably are Nazis there dave

For starters, Adolf's half brother Alois Hitler used to live in Liverpool

It's almost counter-intuitive.

We're given to believe that the 'silent majority' are happy to vote for UKIP/BNP - so hiding the fact that you're standing as a BNP candidate seems odd...unless the constituency was Brixton - that I could understand...
It's not just the BNP it seems Gromit, why with your search skills did you not come across these reports also?

I've given you three options so as not to be seen as bias in any way.
AOG - the articles you refer to don't mention any political parties and no one has been arrested- do you know something that the police / investigators don't know?

Give them time but don't hold your breath.

"The Electoral Commission has passed the allegations onto the Metropolitan Police who are investigating".

Regarding which political parties are involved, it is not rocket science, hazard a guess.
