We have ordered a nice new shiny Citroen Grand Picasso, A lovely drive so Carakeel tells me, I was sat in the back, we pick it up at the end of July.

The no handbrake thing will take a bit of getting used to!! how weird will that be.

We left our Citroen Berlingo in a car park in Exeter, when we returned the window of the rear side door was smashed, nothing inside was stolen and all the glass was on the outside, I think it was a fault in the design of the window, when the window is locked shut it exerts pressure on the glass, I think it was just one of those things. All the doors were still locked and there was sealed packages in the car that could have been of value and other things worth stealing. we have to wait until Tuesday for a replacement window Grrr

Happy Motoring Ratter, hope you find a suitable nice new home in North Wales soon !
So how do you do handbrake turns when driving around town??
Question Author
JJ, you siply cant do it, I did actually ask the guy the same question, clearly a major flaw!!

It also has an acoustic windscreen!!!! now that has gotta be useful!, im just not sure what it does.
Somehow makes me glad I only drive an old Ford Transit!
If no HandBrake I think you stop it with your feet like the Flinstones used to do RATTER !! :-)
Citroen must have learned their lesson from the Xantia.

That had a handbrake applied to the discs on the front wheels.

If the disc was hot when the handbrake was applied, and it wasn't put on firmly, then when the disc cooled and contracted the car would roll away.
Absolutely cracking cars RATTER15, we had one before our C3 Picasso. Never missed a beat and all the space you could ask for.
Enjoy.
I've got a Passat Estate with no handbrake, must admit I was wary of it for first 48hrs, now I don't even think about it and make full use of extra storage between front seats, enjoy your new motor.

Lankeela, we did think about a VW transporter for the hounds but it is nice to have a real car sometimes. The Grand picasso was the only car we could find that could accommodate the dogs, they have outgrown the Berlingo and it definitely wouldnt have room for the fourth wolfie :)
Go on then Ratter, explain the 'no handbrake' thingy.

Hopkirk,It appears that you just stop the car and it stays put, when you want to go, you just drive off. personally I like to know I have put a brake on!
I follow my training, and always leave it in gear.

I don't trust handbrakes.
Ratter, there's a handbrake button you push to engage H/B when you stop.
then you just pull away and the H/B releases automatically (in theory)
Question Author
Baldric, I know there is a button for the handbrake but I think it does it automatically, according to the guy who took us for the test drive.
The touble is you would get used to it, and then drive another car and forget to apply the handbrake.
Question Author
Baldric, I agree, im not totally comfortable not having a handbrake to be honest.
