HMS Sheffield Anniversary
5 Answers
Today is the 30th anniversary of the loss of HMS Sheffield in the Falklands when she was struck by an Exocet missile. My friend lost his son that day. Speaking with the ships captain later, he was told that they only had 10 seconds warning when one of the crew spotted the missile approaching just above wave height. They had no chance. RIP.

The Sheffield was n waters surrounded by hills and hence was vulnerable to this type of missile attack.
