I have been taking my Dogs up the woods for there walks lately and they love it, The problem is that my cockerpoo gets so wet and mucky it takes hours for her to dry, no matter how much I towel dryer she is wet for hours, I am considering getting a blaster but would like to know how well they work, I have seen this one but am unsure as I do not want to waste my money.
Mine is on a stand with wheels and as I groom my dogs on a table, it is so much easier, but if you just want a bog standard model to blast out the water from the dogs coat, the Metro Air Force Quick Draw at £89 is excellent. I can get my Rough Collies dry in 20 minutes after a full all over bath with a...
my dogs steer well clear of my hoover and hairdryer. Josaphine, have you got a human hair dryer? you might try that on a coolish setting, at least that way if they hate it, you wont be wasting money.
When i was a child, out cat loved to be hoovered, mind you this was about 40 years ago and I guess that the suction wasn't so strong. When you got the hoover out, he would lie down in front of it and keep moving as you moved till he got vacuumed!
I use a hair dryer on my dog - she doesn't like the noise much, but she'll get used to it in time - as the dog blaster doesn't look or sound very much different to a hair dryer, I wouldn't spend my money on that.
Try taking her to a grooming parlour where they use one - my GSD is dried with one when he has been bathed at my friend's grooming parlour, but I wouldn't actually buy one myself. The main reason for using it is to 'blast' out the excess water and loose coat.
Thanks all, I read that story in the sun a few weeks ago, I would never put her in a cage and leave it on, Its to use outside after we get back from a good long walk to blast the excess water off, (I wouldn't use it on her face) I had clipped her back in march when we had the hot spell but as she is a poodle mix it has grown back so thick and quickly, She does'nt mind the hair dryer but it takes so long, Thanks anyway I may not get one now.
Without wanting to start up the debate on designer dogs again this is one of the reasons people need to be careful when buying mixed breeds, they never know for sure what sort of coat they are going to end up with. There have been some real horror stories of so called non moulting breeds having to be virtually shorn to remove their matter coats, because owners didn't realise they have to have them clipped regularly, they seem to think non-moulting means you can just leave them as they are. Some breeders also advertise them as being hypoallergenic and this is also a good advertising ploy but totally inaccurate, as even a hairless dog can cause allergies.
