Prima Donna Girl

My local (normally very good) radio station keeps playing Prima Donna Girl by Marina and the Diamonds. I equate that song with I`m A Barbie Girl. Dire. Where has all the brilliant Britsh music gone? Music seems to be dominated by girls (who don`t write their own music). What happened to the male bands with their fantastic bass/lead guitars and a lead singer who could sing?

To be fair, my radio station`s very good. I don`t want to hear one kind of music genre. I like a mix but I would like it to be good music. I know what you mean though

I quite like most of her stuff as she does write it herself, but I prefer metal and rock which is mainly male dominated. The English music scene sufffers a lot from major record labels deciding what is played on radio stations which is why you get a lot of mainstream pop because they know they can sell it easily.

I agree Sharigan. I also think we suffer from the Simon Cowell effect, unfortunately. It seems to be harder and harder to source something that is decent to listen to.

I live half here and half in Germany and there are some great live music clubs in both and a very good underground scene in England too. Of the mainstream men I like at the moment in England is Ed Sheeran, I really don't like any of the Simon Cowell style shows, they manufacture rubbish and take away airtime from emerging bands.

My cousin lives in Germany (Hamburg). He`s taken me to some pretty good places. As far as live music in the UK is concerned, Twickenham still has some pretty good stuff going on. Mainly Blues (which I like).

Hamburg is great. We live near Koln but we are often in Berlin as well both of which have really good live music scenes. My real dad lives near Birmingham and Eddies is a great live music venue there for underground or rock bands.
