Why do some posters mark their own answers as best answer? Is it not clear to everyone? You even get some people thanking 'mark' when we don't have a regular 'Mark' on here. How odd!

Why does there have to be a best answer? Thought it was a way of offering opinions, advice or factual information, not a flaming exam.

I feel really good when someone marks my answer as best answer. It's also lovely when people say thank you personally. However, we do still have posters who are confused about what to do.
I just find it really odd that they nominate themselves.
Mark, you haven't yet accepted/declined my profuse apology.

I answered a poster today suggesting she had made a mistake giving her (own) thank you answer as best answer and that she could change it to Calibax
