should I reply to the text?
I've had a text out of the blue from an unfamilar number. It reads: "Records passed to us show you're entitled to a refund approximately £2560 in compensation from mis-selling of PPI on your credit card or loan. Reply INFO or Stop." How likely is this to be genuine, or is it just someone making money on texts being sent?

As soon as you reply you indicate your phone is an "active" number, AND that you are a person who bothers to reply, putting you on their "gullible" list of people who will get MORE text messages.

Mrs O and I must have banged heads together because I can`t recall the accident in the text I`ve just had. Thousands due it seems.
And I am sick to death of the PPI calls for the woman who previously had my phone number. Last guy said he had all my bank details and would I like to confirm by telling them to him. Oh yes of course I would...he got the bosun`s whistle.
