Just found an advert for Headtacher at the last school I worked at - the pay is 100k!!! (No wonder the bloke who was head when I worked there used to look so smug.)

that is the kind of salary many command now, like doctors, pay through the roof. The usual comment is you have to pay to get the best, indeed......
wouldn't do their job for all the tea in china

I wouldn't go back (and I suppose I was on good money) - but the head didn't actually have an awful lot to do with the actual kids IMO.
Smug???? We could have been at the same school. Re previous conversation. Know you don`t need help now as you have achieved what you wanted but had a quick word with special needs therapist friend. You were right to hold out for mainstream ed. and 10 hours of help a week is fantastic. AND....you will fill your time in Sept.!!
id do the job for £100k !!!!!!!

Thanks for your help and encouragement gness, I am happy with the 10 hours a week and know that thing 2 has been very lucky to get it.
when I was at school many moons ago we shadowed the headmaster for the day and even back then he day was spent liaising with the board of governors, writing reports, dealing with parents and pupils - more parents than pupils, and lets face the parents this day and age either complete chavs or believe their little charles and henrietta would not do a thing wrong!!

nope not even for 100k would I do that job
You`re welcome Sher. As we both know all you have to do is make sure the 10 hours are his and not shared unless you are happy with that.x
I think that is around the average, a headteacher of a small special school near me is on 96k a year
shame many of the children seem to be coming out of school with little grounding in basic subjects.
em10, that situation will persist for many until they realise that learning is a participation sport, if you make no effort to learn, you won't learn, whatever I am trying to teach you. You don't catch knowledge like measles, being in the room isn't enough! If it was a secondary school, I wouldn't do the job for 100K these days.
then the system is flawed and letting down children by the bucketload.
