Good manners pays dividends

I went to a building supplies yard today only to have the man tell me that they were about to close for 30 minutes for lunch. I said I'd come back, so went and had a coffee nearby.
When I came back after 2 pm, he apologised for closing (said it was a new rule).
Then he gave me a LARGE discount. He said some people can be really nasty and that he appreciated my attitude. I was only being polite.

What 'bull sht rules'?....that workers are entitled to a certain amount of time for lunch/breaks? If it's a very small business,it may be far easier to close rather than work short staffed for the time it takes for 2,3 or 4 individual lunch breaks.

Anyway-that was nice annemollie-it's good to be appreciated...and to have patience-as you did.
