Like from star wars yoda says "train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose" but how do we become less attached to someone. So they are not missed as much when they are not with us ( and not talking about death here). So we can stand on our own emotionally far stronger.

I recommend reading Deepak Chopra 'The Path to Love'. One of the chapter is entitled 'Is Attachment Really Love'. This includes the sub-title 'Healing our Inner needs'.

I don't think you can can you?

You're either emotionally dependent on that person from the get go or you're clingy and don't want them to be out of your sight. Don't think you can "train" yourself to be something you're really not- especially not long term.
The only thing I can think of is to keep yourself fully occupied, so you're not thinking about the person all the time. And that way you will also have plenty to talk about when you see them again.
Attachment and emotional dependence are very different things

You can make emotional dependance less powerful by a) dilution... having lots of lesser emotional relationships
b)avoidance by detaching yourself from that aspect of life... not making the relationships in the first place
c) Personal growth If you work on all aspects of personal growth you may find that you are able to deal with things like separations and things far better
d) Get a dog so it will love you back the same way
