Partner was caught by police speeding on a motorway, received 3 points then 2 weeks later caught by a mobile camera doing 36mph in a 30 zone. Just received the notice now but read criteria on northumberland police website that says youre eligible if youre a fraction over 34 which he is.
Do points effect going on the course? People who have experienced this need only reply please x

The SPA course is not offered to everybody, here in Notts the limit is speed + 10% + 9 mph so if you are doing under 41 in a 30 mile zone you MAYbe offered a course but it also depends on your previous history. The course now costs £92 and lasts about 4 hours I did mine three weeks ago.
Forgot to add if you go on the course you do not get any points but if you re-offend with in three years they May be added as well as the points you get for the repeat offence

If you already have points on your license can you not do it?
If you go on the course and are caught speeeding later the previous points are not added to your licence. You cannot do another course with in 3 years
The course is an alternative to prosecution, for all speed bands and classes of vehicle speeds except 20 mph zones. Previous driving history will not be taken into account when making an offer.

Once a motorist has successfully completed the course, the file on that incident is closed and no further action will be taken, however they will be ineligible for another course offer if they reoffend within 3 years of the original offence.

I'm sorry I don't really know Ava as I had a clean sheet, but I do know not everybody gets the offer the actual speed you were doing being one factor if you are going to fast you don't get a chance. I also know that a lot of people do get the offer. The course is held at the local school, as I said they last 4 hours and they do them at 08.00, 13.00 and 18.00 and between 15 and 30 people attend each session
This site gives the criteria to qualify for the course in Notts, the first question gives the formula for working out the qualifying speed

If you live in Notts this site is useful especially the first section giving the location of speed cameras

Yes Ava you can

Friend of mine had 3 points for a previous speeding still live on her licence - together with 3 more which had expired - and was offered the course after being caught at 36 in a 30 zone.

I have also told her to get the lead out of her right foot!! And she's over 80
