The Russian security service set fire to one pirate boat with the men shackled to the handrails. So not sure if they have had any of their ships hijacked since that time. Perhaps some don't get that piracy is very big business. It's not just a little skiff with 6 blokes on board, and with more money involved they can afford the faster boats and bigger and better weaponry.

Em10, the pirates have ramshackleboats, and ak,s machetete's and rpg's, nothing compared to what's on fully loaded warcopter.
The problem is red tape and rules by governement officials who are usually a long way off and safe, had these same officials needed to use these ships to cross, or the cargo ships were part of their livelyhood, I think we'd see completely different tactics used entirely.

Em10 I have been of the south west coast and asia and have seen pirates boats, I have also been in operations in South America and I can assure you that the billionaire drug barons funding for their mules boats are palaces compared to the Sw African and Asian pirates cheap bits of wood with several cheap outboard motors stuck on the end.
