Why do the boyband type artistes have to look gormlessly at the camera when singing?

Why do boybands have to look gormlessly into the camera in a vain attempt to send pre pubescent girls into a frenzy,dont they realize that they actually look like gormless teenage male models with zero talent.AHH thats better!

You are seeing them from the perspective of an adult male. If you were a pre-oubescent girl, what you interperet as looking 'gormless' would actually be received as looking thoughtful, sensitive, caring, and just the boy you have been looking for.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - so, indeed, is gormlessness!

And why they call themselves a 'band' i don't know. A band suggests that they are musicians.....which i very much doubt applies! Surely they're just a dancing troupe?

I always thought they should be boybanned.

Nevertheless, we have to accept that everything about them is manufactured for a particular niche, right up to the pretence of sincerity in their little butter-wouldn't-melt eyes. And apparently it works on their target audience, who by all accounts, are prepared enough to queue up outside their dressing rooms in the hope of getting something memorable from their favourite popster (!) I wish my 'look' had that effect!

As AH said it's nothjng to do with music, it's to do with how good looking they are. the ratio of "image : music quality" when determining how marketable an artist/band is, has swayed so ridiculously in favour of image, that the charts are now renedered obselete. They may as well call them the image charts not music charts.

Therefore, by staring longingly into the camera will sell them more records.

Boybands is the perfect name for them cos thats what they are "Boys", they look about 14 and full of bad skin and awful hair you'd think with all that money they would put it to good use. Bands when i was young had awful hair to start {duran, spandau, wham} but soon changed to georgous looking men, now that was something to drool over, even if i was in my teens today i dont think i could get excited about the bands today, you could find boys like that in the local park!
