...flu. The aches and fever started last Saturday and I was off sick from work Monday and Tuesday. Went in on Wednesday and managed a whole day but started feeling worse Thursday so my boss sent me home. I am recovering but I've got a horrible throaty cough which started on Tuesday and won't go away.

I've also started getting itchy skin. I've never had itchy skin after flu before. I've been taking paracetamol and Boots own cough medicine with decongestant and I've been drinking loads of Lucozade. Could any of these be causing a skin reaction? There are no spots with the itching btw.

I'm still not sure you had flu, tigs - I've had it twice in my life, and each time I was off my feet for a fortnight.
Go and see the pharmacist about your skin - there might be something in the Boots stuff (what does it say in the leaflet about it?)
do you think you may have another thing, like an allergy to colourings in medicine?

I'm pretty sure it was flu Box. I know the symptoms from previous bouts of it which have knocked me out for more than 2 weeks. This one didn't seem to last as long but I had the aching body, shivering, headaches, earache, and high temperature. Monday night I kept waking up and my sheets were soaking wet. I lost my appetite and my taste buds didn't want to work. My parents had to take Little Tiggs Sunday, Monday and Tuesday as I was too ill to look after him.

I still don't feel 100% with or without the coughing but I'm trying to plod along as I've been preparing for Little Tigg's birthday party which I'm doing tomorrow. I'm still on the paracetamol. I can't take any other painkillers because of my stomach problems. I took some Piriton last night but I continued itching till I fell asleep about an hour later.
Next year get yourself a flu jab.

£10 at Tesco pharmacy (and no doubt other places), worth every penny.
