I have persistent dog fouling at my front gate. Always either late at night or very early in the morning when no one is around.. Is there anything that can be sprayed on the ground around the front of my house to act as a deterrent (or as a noxious smell to the dogs). Failing this I think a shotgun may be the only answer but that may be a bit extreme.
I have approached the local council but they say the wardens must actually see the dog fouling and the owner walk away without picking it up before they can act. They operate 9 to 5 Monday to Friday so this is a bit of a joke.

I don't blame the dog, it knows no better. Up to the owners to be responsible, but sadly so many today aren't.
I`m afraid it is Bednobs. Moved into one of a row of houses built on an established estate and spoiling the view of long time residents. One elderly couple made life hell for the newbies and I got the dog poo, daily. Tried to be the nice, polite, jokey Gness but it just got worse til I snapped.
after what's happened in the last 2 weeks, i would caution anyone against setting fire to anything on someone's doorstep. I sound like a right party pooper (geddit?) but that's a very very silly thing to do
Sorry Bednobs but nothing had worked and if that`s what it took so stop my tots climbing out of the car into dog poo deliberately deposited...so be it.
Squirt area with strong lemon bleach.
That's like pepper though tambo, it washes away in bad weather. The dog generally comes back.
re-apply it after rain or periodically.
Worth a try I suppose.
i did consider doing the burning poo bag trick if i ever managed to find the culprits.
my dad spotted someone one hovvering once, waiting for him to leave but he knew what they were up to because i had told him what had been happening... he watched them for ages then followed them home... sadly they knew and went down an alley.

i dont think id actually do it though - what if a child came out? what if the persons clothes went up?

i would stuff it - unlit -through their letter box though, if it ever happens again.
