Lost Downloads

I`ve just downloaded Windows service pack 1 and service pack 2 (for Vista). Problem is - I can`t locate them on my PC in order to instal them. I`ve done searches but no joy. They`re probably buried away somewhere in the system files. Any idea how I can find these? Thanks.

it seems the default for downloads in Vista is the 'documents' folder. Have you looked in there?

Yes - nothing there. I believe that they may be in a temp folder somewhere within the system files and folders, but the names are probably coded and without knowing where to look, it`s the needle in a haystack thing.

Have a look in control panel, if you can see them delete then download again & notice where you save to.

...or don't actually re-download them but just click to download, take note of the default save folder and then cancel the download.

Also, the file names will be listed on the download page - such as

Windows6.0-KB936330-X86-wave0.exe

Try downloading the first file again and when you get asked to save it, you should be able to see which folder it will save in. You can then cancel the save box and find the files in the specified folder.

Service Pack 1 should be called Windows6.0-KB936330-X86-wave1.exe, and Service Pack 2 should be Windows6.0-KB948465-X86.exe

Did you save them to the recycle bin ?
Or maybe your AV spotted they were from MS and played safe.

Or open your browser, press CTRL+J, then right click on the file and click open file location (or similar)

Also you don't need to install SP1, just go straight to SP2.

Thanks, folks - tried everything you suggested but no joy. I had to re download them again (about 3 hours!) and selectd the download folder as destination.
I wanted to download Live Movie Maker, which required both service packs before it would download.
