Living in the USA?
15 Answers
I have recently returnd from a holiday at my brothers in the USA. My wife and I have seriously dicussed wanting to live over there. Does anyone know how possible this would be as we would like to do this before my son starts school in the next 4 years..? My brother married an American citizen and has lived there for 7 years now. If anyone could advise me on this i would very much appreciate it as researching this online has proven quite difficult and unclear.
Many Thanks

Unless the answer to both those questions is yes then you don't stand an earthly
Unless you are Irish when there is a slim chance you could be successful in the green card lottery. (British citizens are not eligible for it)

Are you sure this is the road that you want to go down, going somewhere on holiday is completely different to living somewhere ( been there done it) I would suggest that you forget about it for a few months, get settled back down over here and maybe think about it at a later stage, believe me there are many negatives about living over there, please don't think I am a party pooper but it really is probably one of the biggest things you will do in your life and not to be taken lightly, best to look at the negatives (which there are in all countries) first and see if you are happy with them and can live with them I just looked at the positives and there were more negatives than positives.
How was it over there Donsimon? I've always liked the look of places like the states or oz, they speak english and have a tropical sun and great food, why we stayed on this miserable little island and sent our ancestors to the best places i'll never know. Which parts did you go to don and what do you like the most that makes you want to stay?
Beers for you don!

Thank you all for your comments..
KJN, Over the past 9 years i have been to the US 7 times, the first of which I travelled for 6 weeks down the east coast. After that time i wanted to stay but never got round to seriously looking in to it. Now i have a son and a fiancee who share my disire I would like to look into any way possible i can get out there for good. I appreciate there are negatives but I seriously believe there are a hell of a lot more negatives to living over here!! I know i can get work out there once i'm there but the company would not sponser me for my Immigration.
