Following on from the above post, I received a reply to a post on Rootschat which seems quite logical although there are still 2 discrepencies and I wondered what you experts out there thought.
Marriage found for Henry Stephen Chubb b 1855 and Elizabeth Jane Hingston ( I read as Kingston on birth cert for GW Chubb 1884) This seems more likely. The marriage in 1878 in Plymouth seems to point to the family that Craft mentioned. 1881 census shows husband and wife in Plymouth, 1891 shows Henry as a widow in Plymouth and possibly married again to Ann Greep in 1894 Plymouth. In 1891 a George Chubb 1884 is with Henrys parents in Modbury Plymouth, although it shows him as born in Plymouth. Ive checked and no one of this name born around that time in Plymouth, so it could be a mistake which I know often happens, also it mentions Emma Chubb as mother but doesnt actually say that on the original census view. The only other, and BIG difference is the GeoWm Chubb father stated at deceased on his marriage in 1911 but this Henry Stephen Chubb died in 1920 Plymouth. I know also that it could be incorrect as I researched a tree before and it stated a widow on marriage cert but I knew she wasnt.
Im thinking of going along these lines although I cant think why they would have had Geo Wm in Chelsea.
What do you personally think. I just dont know as Im so confused but the fact that I couldnt find them in Chelsea does seem to make sense and also there is another connection to a Chubb( in Yorkshire) being fathered illegitimately by someone from Devonport. I hanging onto anything here !!
Thanks in advance for any help AGAIN
