5 degrees or so cooler would be far pleasanter

It can stay as it is forever, I hate cold weather :)

Only 20 down here but very pleasant as there has been no wind and no humidity

Productive day - one 150 page edit completed, just one more pass through to check if I have made mistakes (a real brrrr of a job), 1 acre of grass cut and 2 and a half hours of a drawing started, one of my commissions that have backed up. Not an easy one perspective wise to open up with.
I went to NYC in August - very hot but somehow more bearable as so many places are airconditioned and the buildings are so big (at least in the main bit of the city anyhow). I imagine in less well shaded or cooled areas it can be horrific though! I have to say, our walk over the Brooklyn Bridge was hot :)

It's the humidity I hate, just feel disgusting with it and my skin doesn't like the sun so a balance between hiding it and not boiling. Was so hot in work earlier, pretty airless even with the windows wide open and aircon on (I know you're not meant to do both). The buses I got home were like ovens.
I detest hot weather in this country and hide away indoors. For some reason, no matter what factor I'm wearing, I always burn in England.
I agree sandyRoe, I am not keen on cold weather but nor do I like it really hot. It plays havoc with my breathing from hay fever and asthma. There never seems to be a pleasant in between. My hubby says 'the hotter the better' and we shouldn't moan.
Hong Kong in summer is worse than NYC - max temp 38 but the thing is that it only cools to 34 at night and the humidity goes up....... Houston gets to 38 and beyond but when beyond it tends to be a continental high and less humid. At least, normally, it drops back to around 28-30 but with a humidity level that is high but not like HK......

other beauts include Lagos, Jeddah and Muscat.....and in the latter two it rarely rains....
and Singapore.....can't forget them, or KL - great storms!
The humidity here is terrible, I mopped the kitchen floor over half an hour ago and it hasn't dried.
Above 70 and I am melting. It is too humid at the moment which I do not like. I cannot understand why people like lying out in the sun. Also I am going to have to go and water the garden. Can't let the poor little flowers die. Grumble, grumble, mutter, mutter.
My wife is working in Abu Dhabi at the moment - she is a schools inspector so part of her role incudes playground monitoring for two hours at a time.

It's 46C out there, now THAT is oppressive heat!

This is just summer - and it never lasts, so try and enjoy it if you can sandy.
I was in Doha a couple of weeks ago and it was 47 degs C there (I`ve known it at 52). That was ridiculous. I love this heat but it`s much better when you have some water to jump into such as on a beach. The city and high temperatures aren`t made for each other IMO.
What oppressive heat?
I've had a thick sweater on all day as it is misty and murky in my neck of the woods

I see now what was wrong. I had the heating on.
Nice sting in the tail, there!
;-) Sandy.
