A year or so ago I had a pain that escalated in my left leg and when I became unable to walk on it, after a suspected rupture I was told I had achilles tendinosis. I also have calcified "lumps" at the insertion point too??? (i've never really followed this up). The pain went after rest and after some excercise and a good bit of weight loss, it's rarely troubled me.

I have been going to the gym quite a bit recently, I rarely use the treadmill, I use the cross trainer for an hour and the stepping motion of the AMT for half an hour. Originally I thought this had been helping me but I have a new pain, its not at the top or the bottom of the achilles but on the outside back of the heel behind the knuckley bit of the ankle. Is this another symptom of the tendinosis???

I am almost 100%sure, from your description that you did not rupture your Achilles tendon one year ago. It is more than likely that you did have an inflammatory condition of that tendon known as Achilles Tendinitis.

This over the past 12 months due to overuse of your tendon has produced a spur of bone on your heel known as a Calcaneal spur.

Google it for further information.

I know all that Sqad, I got told all that at the hospital a year ago. I had the spur a year ago but the pain has flared up but in a different place. I had the tendon scanned and it had lots of micro tears but not full rupture.
Ive never been to physio for it but think maybe I should ask just in case my work outs are doing more damage. All I was told was to not push anything heavy :S
Right.........I've not been much help then........:-(
