this is un-believable.

i got home on monday and there is a card on my doormat. they tried to deliver a letter, the sender did not use enough postage - therefore there is a fee to pay £1:09. i chose the 'with postage' option, and stuck three first class stamps on the card - then posted it to the sorting office. as per that option. fee is paid .. they should deliver the letter.

i've just got home today ..... that same card is on my doormat again . what goes on? have i wasted three stamps?

i've sent them an e-mail about this (for all the good it will do) now to wait and see what happens. if the letter is not delivered by tuesday - i shall go down there and make a lot of noise.

had one this morning actually. i woke up at 0430 as usual for my morning shift.

for some reason my brain told me it was saturday. i've travel plans for saturday, therefore i started to do this morning what i'm going to do on saturday. it was only as i was shaving i suddenly realised it was still only thursday. i was gutted - two more days of early shift
I think you've had another one, was this meant for another thread ( senior moments )
Question Author

do me a favour treetops .... come over and shoot me
Now...are you sure you sent the stamps....;-)
Question Author
of course. i'm looking at the card now - the stamps are on the front where i stuck them ..they have been franked
Are you saying that by sticking three stamps on the card they count that as you having paid the excess owing? That seems a daft thing to me, as it will then cost them wages in processing it, and then posting out the original, its not as though you are actually paying them the money or am I missing something?
Question Author
lankeela. the option is - and i quote - "please affix stamps or franking machine impression to the correct value overleaf - post the card and we'll deliver your item"

i stuck three stamps on and posted the card. simple..
Excelsior-1 it seems that the card has gone through the system again without anyone noticing the stamps on the back . Repost the card and write next to your address on the front - "Stamps are on the back" . If it comes back a third time its clear that the delivery officer does not know what to do with the card and you will have to get in touch with the sorting office - the number should be on the card .
You should have received a reply to your e-mail , but you need to tell them your postal address for them to know who you are - they can't work that out from an e-mail address .
All the best .
Question Author
thank you argorstran. i phoned them - no reply. i used the 'fee2pay' website to send the e-mail message asking them what on earth was going on .. and part of the process on that web page was inputting my address and postcode.

next move is theirs
Excelsior 1 - have you tried asking the on-line assistant ;
http://www.royalmail....ce/personal-customers

Go to the box where it says "ask Sarah your on-line assistant "
Question Author
argorstran. thank you, i just went there and did the business. await response and/or action now

UPDATE.
just went to sorting office and picked up the letter.

i told the guy the whole story, and he was very polite and apologetic. he could not understand how they sent me the card back instead of the letter. as he was so nice, i could not bring myself to rant and rave at him.

the letter turns out to be another one of you applying for a copy of the christmas lights quiz .. so, i've now sent the quiz to you with an apology and an explanation for the delay.
An apology? What for? They've cost you £1.09 plus time plus any costs of getting to sorting office. They owe you an apology for not putting enough postage on.
